about me

Ann Lowe
eco therapy practitioner
I've always been interested in stories.
Not simply the ones we read in books, but the ones we inherit long before we know we're living inside them.
Stories about what it means to be good. About success, love, work, family and belonging. Stories about whose needs matter, how much space we're allowed to take up, what strength looks like and which parts of ourselves are welcome. We inherit them through our families, our culture, our bodies, our communities and the myths that have shaped us for generations. Most of the time, we don't notice they're there. We simply assume they're true.
Until, perhaps, they stop fitting.

Sometimes that happens through grief. Sometimes through illness, burnout or menopause. Sometimes through becoming a parent, losing someone we love, falling in love, changing career, questioning our identity or simply waking one morning with the quiet feeling that the life we've built no longer reflects the person we're becoming.
My work brings together therapy, reflective writing, dreams and ecological thinking. Not as separate techniques, but as different ways of paying attention. I'm less interested in asking 'what's wrong' than I am in wondering what you've inherited. Which stories have helped you to flourish? Which have asked too much of you? Which still deserve a place in your life, and which might be ready to loosen their grip?
In my twenties, I trained in person-centred counselling skills and discovered a deep trust in each person's innate capacity for growth and healing. Since then, my work has been enriched by ongoing study and personal exploration, including ecology and psychotherapy, women's cyclical hormonal wisdom, writing, and a three-year immersive training in eco-shamanism.
I have led therapy clinics and community projects across Cheshire, helping thousands of people access the support they needed. During the pandemic, I secured National Lottery funding to create welcoming spaces for people experiencing loneliness and isolation, including women who had fled the war in Ukraine.

Areas of Interest
My work continues to evolve through ongoing study and reflective practice. Areas of particular interest include:
- Eco therapy and our relationship with the natural world
- Chronic illness and living in a sensitive body
- Highly Sensitive People (HSP)
- Neurodivergence
- Women's health and peri-menopause
- Dreams and the subconscious
- Reflective writing as a therapeutic practice
- Trauma-informed approaches
- Story, identity, and meaning-making
- Grief and pet bereavement
- The relationship between sensitivity, gentleness, and how we live in the world
I also live with a chronic illness called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), which has shaped my understanding of sensitivity, not as a weakness, but as a source of wisdom, creativity, connection, and how to belong to my own life. EDS taught me what it means to move through the world differently and strengthened my belief that there is no single "right" way to be.
I share my life with my wonderful wife, our much-loved animals, many (many!) houseplants, and a deep love of books, stories, photography, cookery, and the natural world.
